Humanoid Robots From EngineAI And Unitree Clash In Bay Area Demonstration

Viral video shows EngineAI and Unitree humanoid robots fighting in sci-fi-style public demo.

A viral video showing two humanoid robots engaging in a staged combat demonstration inside a Bay Area storefront has taken social media by storm, with viewers describing the scene as something “straight out of a sci-fi movie.” The footage captures what organisers claim to be the first public fight between an EngineAI humanoid robot and a Unitree Robotics model, marking a striking showcase of advancing robotics technology in a public setting.

The clip, originally shared on X (formerly Twitter) by virtual-reality innovator Cix Liv, shows two bipedal humanoid robots standing in a makeshift ring as a human referee oversees the match. A small but enthusiastic crowd is seen cheering as the machines exchange punches, kicks, and defensive manoeuvres. The robots appear to circle each other, dodge attacks, and respond in real time, creating a spectacle that quickly went viral across multiple platforms.

Social media users reacted with a mix of amazement, humour, and scepticism. While many were impressed by the realism of the movements, some viewers questioned the level of autonomy, suggesting the robots were likely being remotely controlled rather than acting fully through artificial intelligence. Others joked about practical applications of robotics, saying they would prefer machines capable of household chores like cleaning, cooking, or laundry rather than combat demonstrations.

The event has also drawn attention to the rapid evolution of humanoid robotics. Unitree Robotics, one of China’s fastest-growing robotics firms, has gained global recognition for its affordable humanoid models. Its G1 robot, priced at around $16,000, features conversational AI capabilities and previously gained attention after participating in a robot combat competition. The company also showcased its H2 humanoid model at CES 2026, further highlighting its expansion into advanced robotics.

On the other hand, EngineAI introduced its T800 humanoid at CES 2026. The robot stands 1.73 metres tall, weighs around 75 kilograms, and is designed for improved stability and real-world mobility applications. With a starting price of approximately $25,000, the company has announced plans for initial shipments by mid-2026, positioning itself in the growing global humanoid robotics market. As videos of the robot “fight” continue circulating online, the incident has reignited debate over the future direction of robotics—whether humanoid machines will remain experimental entertainment showcases or soon transition into practical, everyday applications across industries and households.
