India U19 began their U19 World Cup 2026 campaign against USA U19 in a group. A match at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, where play was interrupted due to adverse weather conditions. Chasing a modest target of 108 runs, India was placed comfortably before rain forced a halt to proceedings, bringing an unexpected pause to the contest.
Earlier in the match, the USA U19 batting unit struggled to cope with disciplined Indian bowling and was bowled out for 107 runs. Asked to bat first, USA lost wickets at regular intervals and failed to build any significant partnerships. Nitish Sudini emerged as the top scorer with 36 runs, while Adnit Jhamb contributed 18, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to offer resistance.
India’s bowling attack was led by Henil Patel, who delivered a standout performance with a five-wicket haul that dismantled the USA batting order. His spell proved decisive in restricting the opposition to a low total. Vaibhav Suryavanshi also made a contribution with the ball, picking up one wicket to support the bowling effort.

In reply, India U19 suffered an early setback when 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi was dismissed for just two runs off four balls. The young left-hander narrowly missed surpassing Virat Kohli’s Youth ODI record of 978 runs, falling short by just four runs. His early dismissal marked a disappointing start for him in the tournament.
Shortly after the early phase of India’s chase, play was stopped due to rain, with officials citing unsafe conditions to continue.
