CISF Recruits 332 Athletes, Its Largest-Ever Sports Intake

Force adds 179 women, raises 34 new teams across disciplines, and eyes CWG 2030, police games, and Olympic success.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has achieved a milestone by onboarding 332 athletes—its largest single recruitment drive—including 179 women, to bolster its sports contingent. These recruits will integrate into 34 newly formed men's and women's teams across disciplines such as archery, lawn tennis, badminton, and cycling, as announced on Saturday.

The 1.70 lakh-strong CISF, responsible for securing 69 civil airports, the Delhi Metro, and other critical installations under the Union Home Ministry, views this as a step toward nurturing national sporting talent. "This aligns the long-term vision of the force with that of the country," a statement noted, with ambitions set on topping the All-India police games, excelling at the 2030 Commonwealth Games (for which India is bidding), and aiming for Olympic glory.

Out of 14,000 applications received, 10,000 candidates underwent trials in a four-month process starting in May, culminating in the selection of 332 national-level medallists. Notably, 18 have secured international gold medals, and 75% of the group are aged 18-22. The diverse cohort hails from 23 states and 6 union territories, reflecting broad representation.
