Virat Kohli’s Playoffs Record Draws Attention As RCB Meet Gujarat Titans In IPL 2026

Virat Kohli’s playoffs record worries RCB ahead IPL 2026 clash.

All attention will be on Virat Kohli when Royal Challengers Bengaluru face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2026 at the HPCA Stadium on Tuesday, with a direct spot in the final on the line. The high-pressure clash comes as RCB look to defend their title after finishing top of the league table on net run rate, level on points with Gujarat Titans.

Kohli enters the knockout fixture under scrutiny after a modest outing in RCB’s final league game, where he scored 15 in a failed chase of 256 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The match also drew attention due to a post-game incident involving Kohli and Travis Head, further amplifying scrutiny on the veteran batter ahead of the playoffs.

Despite a strong overall season, Kohli’s playoff record has emerged as a talking point. In 17 playoff appearances, he has scored 396 runs at an average of 26.40 and a strike rate of 121.10. This statistical trend has raised questions about his ability to deliver decisive knocks in high-stakes knockout matches, even as he remains one of RCB’s most consistent performers in the league stage.

This season, Kohli has accumulated 557 runs from 14 matches and produced a fluent 58 against Punjab Kings earlier in the tournament in Dharamsala. His form has been central to RCB’s consistency, with the franchise relying heavily on his experience at the top of the order.

Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, enter the contest in strong form after a mid-season resurgence that saw them evolve into one of the tournament’s most effective bowling units. Although RCB defeated GT comfortably in their earlier meeting in Ahmedabad, the Titans have since built momentum and will aim to leverage their balanced attack in the knockout stage.

With both teams finishing the league stage on 18 points, the margin between them is minimal, making Qualifier 1 a finely poised encounter. The winner will secure direct entry into the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad, while the losing side will get another opportunity via Qualifier 2, adding further intensity to an already high-stakes contest.
