Rapper Travis Scott Dragged Into Virat Kohli vs Travis Head IPL 2026 Controversy
Travis Scott gets hate due to Virat Kohli-Travis Head row.
An on-field exchange between Virat Kohli and Travis Head during an IPL 2026 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad has spiralled into a wider social media controversy, with rapper Travis Scott unexpectedly becoming a target of online abuse. The confusion emerged after some fans mistakenly identified the rapper as Australian batter Travis Head due to the similarity in their first names.
The controversy began after Kohli and Head were involved in a tense exchange during the match, which escalated further when Kohli reportedly refused to shake hands with the Australian opener after the game. The incident quickly gained traction online, with fans from both sides debating the confrontation across social media platforms.
In the aftermath, several users flooded Travis Scott’s Instagram posts with hateful comments, apparently confusing him with Head. Screenshots of the comments soon went viral, drawing criticism over toxic fan behaviour and the increasing tendency of online trolling to spill beyond the sporting arena. The bizarre mix-up also highlighted how quickly social media outrage can escalate without context.

The situation also affected Head’s family, particularly his wife Jessica Head, who revealed that she had once again become the target of online abuse. Speaking to Australian media outlet The Advertiser, Jessica said the trolling reminded her of the harassment she faced after the 2023 ODI World Cup final, where Head’s match-winning performance against India had triggered similar reactions online.
Jessica said she woke up to social media accounts flooded with abusive messages directed not only at her but also at friends and family members. She stressed the need for more empathy and respectful communication in sports, adding that while passion is an important part of competition, people must remember that athletes and their families are “real people” affected by online hostility.
The Kohli-Head rivalry could continue later in IPL 2026, with both Bengaluru and Hyderabad qualifying for the playoffs. The possibility of another meeting between the two sides has already generated significant anticipation among fans, although the recent controversy has also renewed conversations around player conduct, fan culture and the impact of online abuse in modern sport.
