Sunrisers Hyderabad Replace Injured David Payne With Gerald Coetzee For IPL 2026

Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee as a replacement for injured English pacer David Payne for the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2026 season.The decision was confirmed by the franchise on Saturday through an official media advisory, following Payne’s unfortunate injury setback. The left-arm seamer, who was initially brought in as a mid-season reinforcement, has been ruled out due to an ankle injury that requires extended recovery, forcing SRH to look for an overseas replacement.

Coetzee, known for his express pace and aggressive bowling style, brings international experience across formats. He has represented South Africa in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, and is regarded as a promising fast-bowling option in white-ball cricket. His ability to generate pace and bowl in high-pressure phases of the game makes him a strategic addition to SRH’s bowling attack.
