Sunrisers Hyderabad Hit Hard as Brydon Carse Ruled Out of IPL 2026
SRH replace injured Carse with Sri Lankan pacer Madushanka
Sunrisers Hyderabad have been dealt a significant blow in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026, with all-rounder Brydon Carse ruled out of the tournament due to injury. The development comes just a day after the team registered an impressive victory over Rajasthan Royals, slightly dampening the momentum built from that win.
Carse, who was yet to make an appearance this season, has been officially replaced by Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka. The 25-year-old left-arm seamer joins the squad for ₹75 lakh and brings with him valuable international experience, having already represented Sri Lanka in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Known for his ability to generate swing with the new ball, particularly in the powerplay overs, Madushanka is expected to add variety and depth to the SRH bowling attack.
The addition of Madushanka further strengthens a bowling unit that has already shown promise this season. Young pacers Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain recently impressed with standout performances, while experienced bowlers like Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat continue to provide stability. The expected arrival of regular captain Pat Cummins is also likely to further bolster the team’s pace department and leadership structure.

In Cummins’ absence, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been leading the side and has managed to guide the team to two wins from five matches so far. Sunrisers Hyderabad currently occupy a competitive position in the points table, with a positive net run rate, and will be keen to build consistency as the tournament progresses.
The team heads into its next fixture with confidence following a dominant win over Rajasthan Royals, where both batters and bowlers delivered strong performances. As SRH prepare to face Chennai Super Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the inclusion of Madushanka could prove crucial in maintaining their winning rhythm and strengthening their campaign in IPL 2026.
