RR vs CSK: Top Players Including Samson And Jadeja Could Decide IPL 2026 Match

RR face CSK in IPL 2026 Match 3; Samson, Jadeja, and Suryavanshi expected to influence the game.

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will clash in Match 3 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, with both sides aiming to bounce back after underwhelming campaigns in 2025. This fixture revives a rivalry that dates back to the inaugural 2008 IPL final, where RR lifted the title, while CSK have since established themselves as the league’s most consistent franchise with five titles from ten final appearances.

This season’s encounter carries added intrigue following a high-profile trade: Sanju Samson has moved to CSK, while Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran have joined RR. Leadership reshuffles, returning stars, and emerging talent across both sides promise an exciting contest, with several individual battles likely to influence the outcome.

For CSK, all eyes will be on Sanju Samson, who faces his former franchise for the first time. Coming off a stellar T20 World Cup 2026 campaign where he scored 321 runs and was named Player of the Tournament, Samson has demonstrated his ability to perform under pressure, including an unbeaten 97* against West Indies and 89-run contributions in both the semi-final and final. With MS Dhoni unavailable, Samson is also expected to assume wicketkeeping duties, marking a potential leadership shift within the franchise.

Ayush Mhatre is another key player for CSK. Rising rapidly through the ranks after an injury replacement stint in 2025, Mhatre ended that season with 240 runs at a strike rate near 189 and captained India to the Under-19 World Cup title in 2026. His ability to switch between anchoring innings and aggressive hitting makes him a vital top-order option. Shivam Dube completes the trio, offering stability and finishing prowess in the middle order. With a strike rate above 160 during India’s T20 World Cup campaign, Dube’s role in the final overs could prove decisive for CSK.

On the Rajasthan Royals side, Ravindra Jadeja’s return provides both experience and balance. Although retired from T20 internationals since 2024, his all-round abilities remain crucial, offering middle-over control with the ball and finishing capability with the bat. Jadeja is also approaching personal milestones, needing nine sixes to reach 150 T20 sixes and 15 runs to achieve 4,000 T20 runs. Riyan Parag, RR’s full-time captain at just 24, brings youthful leadership and all-round contribution, with only two wickets needed to reach 50 T20 wickets.

Finally, 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi represents the next generation of Indian batting talent. Already an IPL centurion and fresh off a record 175 in the Under-19 World Cup final against England—the highest individual score in a Youth ODI final—Suryavanshi’s aggressive opening alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal could set the tone for RR’s innings in Guwahati.

As both franchises seek to assert themselves early in the season, these players are expected to be at the center of a thrilling contest that blends youth, experience, and strategic stakes in IPL 2026.
