IPL 2026: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Wins Five Awards, Creates Historic Record

Teen batter dominated IPL 2026 awards after record-breaking season.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi emerged as the standout performer of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, sweeping five major awards during the post-final presentation ceremony after a record-breaking campaign for Rajasthan Royals. The 15-year-old batting sensation was named Most Valuable Player (MVP), Emerging Player of the Season, Super Striker of the Season, Orange Cap winner and Super Sixes of the Season, capping off one of the most remarkable individual seasons in IPL history.

The Bihar-born batter finished as the tournament's leading run-scorer with 776 runs and maintained a staggering strike rate of 237.30 throughout the season. His aggressive approach transformed Rajasthan Royals' batting lineup and made him one of the most feared players in the competition. Sooryavanshi also smashed a record 72 sixes during the season, underlining his dominance and earning him the Super Sixes award.

At just 15 years and 65 days old, Sooryavanshi became the youngest-ever winner of the Orange Cap, surpassing the previous record held by Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan. The teenager also reached 1,000 IPL runs in just 440 balls, breaking the previous benchmark held by West Indies star Andre Russell. In terms of innings played, he became the second-fastest player to reach the milestone, behind only former Australian batter Shaun Marsh.

Despite registering only one century during the season, Sooryavanshi came close to matching Virat Kohli's record of four hundreds in a single IPL campaign. He was dismissed in the nineties on three occasions, scoring 93 against Lucknow Super Giants, 97 in the Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad and 96 in Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans. His consistency and match-winning contributions played a crucial role in Rajasthan Royals' strong run throughout the tournament.

Speaking after receiving the MVP award, Sooryavanshi acknowledged the support he received from teammates and support staff while also highlighting the importance of improving his fitness. The young batter said he felt pressure during interviews but credited the positive team environment for helping him perform consistently at the highest level. His performances throughout the season have strengthened his reputation as one of Indian cricket's brightest emerging talents.

The IPL 2026 final, however, belonged to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets to successfully defend their title. Virat Kohli was named Player of the Match for his unbeaten 75, while Kagiso Rabada secured the Purple Cap, Mohammed Siraj won the Green Dot Balls award, Manish Pandey claimed Best Catch of the Season, and Punjab Kings received the Fair Play Award. Nevertheless, the season will be remembered largely for Sooryavanshi's extraordinary rise and unprecedented haul of individual honours.
