Dwayne Bravo's Controversial Hot Mic Comment at KKR Presser Forces Rahane to Step in Fast

Bravo made an unguarded remark, not realising microphones were already switched on.

A press conference involving Kolkata Knight Riders took an unexpected turn after bowling coach Dwayne Bravo made a controversial remark before the session officially began. The incident occurred at Eden Gardens, where members of the team had gathered to address the media ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League season, drawing immediate attention both in the room and on social media.

As the players and coaching staff settled in, Bravo was engaged in a casual, off-the-record conversation with head coach Abhishek Nayar and batting coach Shane Watson. Unaware that the microphones had already been switched on, Bravo made a light-hearted comment mentioning he had “two chicks” at his house, which was inadvertently broadcast and recorded.

Team captain Ajinkya Rahane quickly intervened, reminding Bravo that the microphones were live and urging caution. “Mics are on. Be careful about what you are talking about,” Rahane was heard saying, as the moment created an awkward situation during what was meant to be a formal media interaction. The clip soon circulated widely online, prompting mixed reactions from fans.

While some social media users criticised Bravo for his choice of words, others viewed the incident as a harmless slip during an informal exchange. The moment nonetheless overshadowed the initial proceedings of the press conference, highlighting how quickly offhand remarks can gain traction in the digital age, especially when captured on camera.

Beyond the controversy, the team addressed key concerns regarding their squad composition ahead of the tournament. KKR have been dealing with setbacks in their pace bowling department, with certain players ruled out or facing uncertainty. Despite these challenges, Bravo expressed confidence in the available resources and emphasised the depth of talent within Indian cricket.

He particularly highlighted the strength of the spin attack, led by Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy, while also backing emerging fast bowlers to step up in the absence of key players. KKR are set to begin their IPL 2026 campaign against Mumbai Indians on March 29 at Wankhede Stadium, with the team aiming to overcome early setbacks and start the season on a strong note.
