CSK Push Hard For Hardik Pandya With Rs 20 Crore Package

Speculation surrounding Hardik Pandya's future in the Indian Premier League has intensified, with reports suggesting that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made a significant trade proposal to Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of the 2027 season. While no official confirmation has been issued by either franchise, the reported offer underlines the high value placed on the India all-rounder in the transfer market.

According to media reports, Mumbai Indians initially sought a package that included young batter Ayush Mhatre along with cash in exchange for Hardik Pandya. The franchise reportedly views Mhatre as a long-term investment after his impressive IPL 2026 campaign, during which he emerged as one of the promising young batters with an aggressive strike rate.

CSK, however, are reportedly unwilling to part with the 19-year-old and have instead proposed an alternative package comprising Shivam Dube, South African batter Dewald Brevis and ₹10 crore in cash. If the deal were to materialise, the reported package would value the transaction at more than ₹20 crore, making it one of the most significant player trades in IPL history.

Hardik remains one of the league's most sought-after all-rounders because of his ability to contribute with both bat and ball while also providing leadership. Despite a relatively modest IPL 2026 season, in which he scored 206 runs and claimed four wickets, franchises continue to regard him as a valuable asset due to his experience and versatility.

Negotiations, however, appear to hinge on differing priorities. Mumbai Indians are reportedly keen to secure proven young Indian talent as part of any agreement, while Chennai Super Kings are focused on retaining their emerging core and strengthening the squad without sacrificing key future prospects. As of now, neither franchise has confirmed that a deal is close.

With no official agreement in place, the reported discussions remain speculative. If talks between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings do not progress, reports suggest that other IPL franchises, including Kolkata Knight Riders, are monitoring the situation and could enter the race should Hardik Pandya become available in the transfer market ahead of the 2027 season.
