WPL 2026 Eliminator: Delhi Capitals Defeat Gujarat Giants by 7 Wickets
Delhi Capitals chase 169 with ease, powered by openers and skipper Jemimah Rodrigues, to enter their fourth successive WPL final.
Delhi Capitals booked their place in a fourth consecutive Women’s Premier League final after delivering a commanding all-round performance to defeat Gujarat Giants by seven wickets in the WPL 2026 Eliminator on Tuesday.
Opting to bowl first, the Capitals produced a disciplined bowling effort to restrict Gujarat Giants to 168 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Gujarat was anchored by opener Beth Mooney, who remained unbeaten on 62 off 51 balls, striking six boundaries while holding the innings together after early setbacks.
Delhi struck early through Chinelle Henry, who finished with 3 for 35, including the key wicket of Sophie Devine. Nandini Sharma made an immediate impact with two wickets in her opening over, removing Anushka Sharma and skipper Ashleigh Gardner, while spinners Minnu Mani and Sneh Rana applied sustained pressure through the middle overs.

In response, Delhi Capitals raced out of the blocks thanks to a blistering opening partnership between Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee. The duo added 89 runs in quick time, with Verma scoring 31 off 21 balls and Lee smashing 43 off 24, putting the Giants firmly on the back foot during the powerplay.
Gujarat briefly fought back when Georgia Wareham dismissed both openers in the same over, but the momentum remained with Delhi. Captain Jemimah Rodrigues played a composed knock of 41, while Laura Wolvaardt stayed unbeaten on 32, ensuring there were no further hiccups in the chase.
Delhi eventually chased down the target in just 15.4 overs, with Marizanne Kapp hitting the winning runs. The victory underlined the Capitals’ remarkable consistency in the tournament, as they advanced to their fourth straight WPL final, where they will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the title clash on Thursday.
