Vedant Trivedi Scores 83 as India B Beat Afghanistan by Two Wickets in U-19 Tri-Series
Vedant Trivedi’s 83 anchors India B to a thrilling two-wicket win over Afghanistan in the U-19 Tri-Series.
India B finally opened their account in the U-19 Tri-Series on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, edging Afghanistan by two wickets in a nerve-jangling finish at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. Vedant Trivedi’s mature 102-ball 83 proved the difference as India B overhauled Afghanistan’s 202 for nine with 11 balls remaining, erasing memories of a 71-run drubbing by the same opponents just seven days earlier.
Skipper Aaron George called correctly and inserted Afghanistan under cloudy skies, a decision that paid rich dividends. Left-arm spinner BK Kishore (3-19) and seamers Deepesh Devendran (2-38) and Rohit Das (2-29) ripped through the top order, reducing the visitors to 78 for five by the halfway mark. Only opener Uzairullah Niazai’s resolute 107-ball 96 dragged Afghanistan past 200, with useful cameos from Nazifullah Amiri (17) and Khatir Stanikzai (24) lending late respectability.
The chase looked set to collapse when India B slipped to 115 for six inside 30 overs, with Afghanistan’s Nazifullah Amiri and Salam Khan striking regularly. George led the early resistance with a fighting 71-ball 42, but it was Trivedi who shouldered the burden, farming the strike and finding boundaries when pressure mounted.

A crucial 47-run unbroken ninth-wicket stand between Trivedi and Kishore (29 not out), followed by Devendran’s calm 20 not out, steered India B past the finish line. The victory celebrations were loud and emotional, marking the team’s first points after three successive defeats.
The result breathes new life into India B’s campaign and sets up an intriguing final round of matches in the tri-series involving India A and Afghanistan. For Trivedi and his teammates, Tuesday’s gritty performance was both redemption and a statement of growing maturity.
With the tournament still wide open, India B will hope this hard-fought win becomes the turning point that propels them toward the title.
