Sourav Ganguly Turns Back Clock With Viral Century; 53-Year-Old Slams 132 Off 68 Balls in Gully Cricket
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly scores 132 off 68 balls in viral gully cricket video; the internet celebrates.
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly reminded fans of his glorious batting days after smashing a sensational 132 off just 68 balls in a viral gully cricket match video. The 53-year-old looked in sublime touch as he played trademark cover drives and lofted shots with remarkable ease, leaving social media users amazed by his timing and elegance. Fans quickly flooded the internet with praise, calling it a nostalgic reminder of the “Prince of Kolkata” at his very best.
Known for his dominance on the off-side during his international career, Ganguly recreated several iconic strokes during the informal game. He reached his half-century in only 33 deliveries and continued accelerating despite losing one of his two allotted “lives” when he was dismissed at 75. The former left-handed batter eventually brought up his century in just 58 balls before finishing on 132 in entertaining fashion.
The viral clip also carried a symbolic touch for cricket fans. Ganguly had famously scored 131 runs on his Test debut against England at Lord’s in 1996, and social media users joked that he intentionally added “one extra run” this time to better that memorable milestone. During the innings, spectators and players could be heard cheering him on as he effortlessly cleared boundaries and entertained the crowd.

After reaching his hundred, the wicketkeeper in the match jokingly requested Ganguly to recreate his iconic shirt-waving celebration from the 2002 NatWest Trophy final at Lord’s. While the former BCCI president laughed off the suggestion, he remained cheerful throughout the game and continued playing attacking cricket until the end of his knock.
Earlier this year, Ganguly had also made headlines during an appearance on Raj Shamani’s podcast, where he opened up about the match-fixing controversies that surrounded Indian cricket during his early captaincy years. Ganguly revealed that he had personally asked legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Anil Kumble whether they had ever been approached for fixing, saying he himself had never encountered such situations during his playing career.
