India A vs Sri Lanka A Super Over Heartbreak: Sooryavanshi Pushes Sri Lanka A Player

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi pushed a Sri Lanka A player after India A lost the Super Over in Dambulla.

Indian cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was involved in a heated exchange with Sri Lanka A players following India A’s defeat in a Super Over during the T20 tri-series match at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Monday. The incident occurred after a dramatic contest between India A and Sri Lanka A ended in a tie before the hosts won the Super Over.

The match saw Sri Lanka A successfully defend their total in the decisive Super Over. After scoring 16 runs in six balls, Sri Lanka restricted India A to only nine runs, securing victory in a closely fought encounter. The result added more tension to a match that had already seen delays and uncertainty over whether the Super Over would take place due to light conditions.

The controversy unfolded after Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Suryansh Shedge failed to complete the chase in the Super Over. As Sooryavanshi walked back after the loss, he appeared frustrated following an interaction with Sri Lankan players. He then approached one of the Sri Lanka A players and pushed him during the argument before other players from both sides intervened.

Earlier in the match, Sri Lanka A posted 265/9 while chasing India A’s target of 266 runs, forcing the game into a tie after 50 overs. India A’s batting effort included contributions from Suryansh Shedge, who scored 72 runs, and Vipraj Nigam, who made 51, as the pair added a valuable partnership to keep India in the contest.

Sooryavanshi, who scored 21 runs from 14 deliveries, started aggressively with boundaries before being dismissed by spinner Sahan Arachchige. Captain Tilak Varma and Ruturaj Gaikwad also contributed but Sri Lanka’s spinners helped bring the hosts back into the game by taking important wickets during the middle overs.

The defeat marked India A’s second loss in the competition after their earlier setback against Afghanistan A. Despite the result, performances from emerging players such as Shedge and Nigam highlighted the depth of talent in India’s domestic cricket system, with both players contributing with the bat and offering bowling options.
