Sonal Dinusha Shines on Day 3, But India Still Hold Command
India lead by 178 runs after bowling Sri Lanka out for 284
India remained firmly in control on the third day after Sri Lanka were bowled out for 284, giving the visitors a substantial 178-run first-innings lead. India had resumed their innings at 460/9 and were dismissed for 462 early in the day's play, with Prasidh Krishna the final wicket to fall.
Sri Lanka initially struggled against India's bowling attack after losing five wickets for just 90 runs. However, Sonal Dinusha and Niroshan Dickwella launched a crucial recovery partnership to prevent the hosts from collapsing further. Their resistance became the defining feature of Sri Lanka's innings.
Dickwella produced an impressive knock of 80, providing stability when Sri Lanka were under significant pressure. His partnership with Dinusha helped Sri Lanka recover from a precarious position and gave the home side hope of reducing India's first-innings advantage.

Dinusha was another standout performer for Sri Lanka, playing a determined innings as he helped steer the team through a difficult period. His contribution ensured that the hosts were able to push their total closer to India's score despite the early setbacks.
Despite Sri Lanka's recovery, India eventually completed the innings with the hosts 178 runs behind. The sizeable first-innings deficit means India remain in a strong position as the match progresses, having established a significant advantage through their batting performance and early success with the ball.
The third day's action therefore belonged to Dinusha and Dickwella from Sri Lanka's perspective, but India continued to hold the upper hand. With Sri Lanka unable to erase the first-innings deficit, the visitors remain well placed heading into the next phase of the Test.
