Sitanshu Kotak Says Patience and Trust Will Guide Sooryavanshi's India Journey

Kotak backs patient approach to nurture teenage batting prodigy Sooryavanshi's talent.

India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has expressed excitement over the imminent arrival of teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi into the senior national setup, stating that the coaching staff will focus on supporting the youngster rather than making immediate changes to his game. Kotak's comments came after India's emphatic victory over Afghanistan in the one-off Test on Monday.

Sooryavanshi, who is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in Indian cricket, is on the verge of creating history. If the 15-year-old features in India's upcoming tours of Ireland or England, he will surpass the record held by Sachin Tendulkar to become the youngest male cricketer to represent India. Tendulkar was 16 years and 205 days old when he made his international debut against Pakistan in 1989.

Speaking about the challenge of working with young players at the highest level, Kotak emphasized the importance of patience and trust. He noted that players who reach the international stage already possess their own methods, styles, and thought processes that have contributed to their success. According to Kotak, coaches must carefully assess when and how to contribute to a player's development without disrupting what already works.

The batting coach said that building trust is a key aspect of the coaching process, particularly with talented young cricketers. Rather than overwhelming a player with technical advice, the coaching staff intends to gradually provide guidance that complements Sooryavanshi's natural abilities and helps him adapt to the demands of international cricket.

Sooryavanshi's rise has attracted widespread attention following a series of impressive performances in age-group cricket. He recently broke the Under-19 World Cup record for most sixes in a tournament during the final against England in Harare, further strengthening his reputation as one of the country's most promising young batters.

With India preparing for important overseas assignments, cricket fans and experts alike will be closely watching whether Sooryavanshi receives an opportunity to make his senior debut. If selected, the teenager would not only achieve a historic milestone but also mark the beginning of what many hope will be a long and successful international career.
