Sanju Samson won widespread praise online after a humble gesture during a felicitation ceremony hosted by Pinarayi Vijayan following India’s triumph in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. A viral video from the event showed the star cricketer offering a drink to the chief minister before taking it himself, a simple act that resonated with fans and drew admiration across social media platforms.

Samson, who played a pivotal role in India’s title-winning campaign, was honoured at the Chief Minister’s official residence, Cliff House, on March 16. Vijayan, in a message shared online, praised Samson’s achievements and conveyed the pride and joy of the people of Kerala, wishing him continued success in his career.

The wicketkeeper-batter was named Player of the Tournament after an exceptional run in the competition, scoring 321 runs in five matches at an average of 80.25 and a strike rate of 199.37. His performances included three crucial half-centuries, with innings of 97 not out against the West Indies, 89 against England in the semi-final, and another 89 in the final against New Zealand, all of which played a decisive role in India’s title victory.
