PHF Warns Players to Avoid Confrontations With India Amid Diplomatic Tensions

PHF tells the national team to avoid confrontations and prioritise sportsmanship in the India match.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has issued fresh directives to its national men’s field hockey squad as it ramps up preparations for upcoming international tournaments. According to a PHF statement, the team has been instructed to intensify fitness regimes, adhere strictly to dietary regulations, and fine-tune tactical discipline under the guidance of the coaching staff.

In particular, the PHF has appointed a new fitness coach and has asked all players to undergo specialized endurance training and recovery sessions. The federation has also emphasized accountability, mandating daily progress reports from players and support staff. In light of the recent dips in performance, the PHF expects improved consistency and discipline both on and off the field.

Sources close to the team say that the federation’s directives come amid increasing pressure from the hockey fraternity and national media over Pakistan’s decline in global rankings. The last few editions of major events, including the Asian Games and World Cup qualifiers, have seen Pakistan’s performance fall short of expectations, prompting internal reviews and restructuring drives.

Looking ahead, the PHF has scheduled a series of practice matches and friendly series across the region, including engagements with top Asian teams, to sharpen match preparedness. The federation believes that with stronger physical conditioning, mental resilience, and strategic clarity, Pakistan’s hockey team can reclaim its standing in continental and global competitions.
