New Zealand Were Three Down for Three Runs — Then Maddy Green Hit a Stunning Century
Maddy Green's century guided New Zealand to a series-clinching 66-run win over South Africa.
The New Zealand women's cricket team secured a 66-run victory over the South Africa women's cricket team in the third and final ODI to clinch the series 2-1. The win not only sealed the series but also earned the hosts valuable points in the ICC Women’s Championship 2025–2029 standings, boosting their position at the top of the table.
The match saw a remarkable turnaround after New Zealand endured a shaky start. Opting to field first after winning the toss, South Africa struck early through Ayanda Hlubi and Tumi Sekhukhune, reducing the hosts to 3/3 within the first 19 balls. Among the early dismissals was skipper Amelia Kerr, who was out for a golden duck.
However, Maddy Green led a stunning recovery with a match-winning century. Her composed innings anchored the New Zealand batting effort and helped the team post a competitive total despite the early collapse. The knock proved decisive in shifting momentum back in favour of the hosts.
