Mohammed Siraj Rested For Ireland And England Series, Prasidh Krishna Replaces Him

BCCI rests Mohammed Siraj to manage workload ahead of busy season.

India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been withdrawn from the national squad for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England as part of workload management, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday. The decision has been taken as a precautionary step to ensure his recovery ahead of a packed international season.

According to the BCCI, the move followed discussions between the board’s medical team and the Indian team management. Officials stated that Siraj has been advised rest to manage his workload and reduce the risk of injury. The board emphasised that the decision was made in the interest of long-term fitness and sustained performance across formats.

The BCCI also confirmed that right-arm pacer Prasidh Krishna has been named as Siraj’s replacement for both the Ireland and England T20I series. The selection committee finalised the change after reviewing the squad requirements for the upcoming tours, which include two T20Is against Ireland and five against England.

Siraj has been one of India’s most active fast bowlers in recent months, featuring in a heavy schedule across international and franchise cricket. He was a late addition to India’s squad in the T20 World Cup and also played all 17 matches for Gujarat Titans in the latest IPL season, where he picked up 19 wickets. He had additionally featured in a recent one-off Test against Afghanistan, which concluded within three days.

The updated Indian squad for the Ireland and England tours includes Shreyas Iyer as captain, with Tilak Varma serving as vice-captain. The team also features Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Prasidh Krishna.

Team officials indicated that the rotation policy aims to balance player workload while maintaining squad depth ahead of a demanding international calendar. Siraj is expected to return to action after completing the prescribed rest period, depending on fitness clearance from the medical team.
