India’s Epic Test Win Stuns Cricket Legends
Mohammed Siraj’s heroics lead India to thrilling victory.
India’s cricket team pulled off a breathtaking six-run victory over England in the fifth Test at The Oval, leveling the five-match series 2-2 and retaining the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The dramatic win, sealed by Mohammed Siraj’s fiery 5/104, including three crucial wickets on the final day, sparked widespread praise from cricket icons like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.
Chasing a record 374, England were cruising at 339/6 before rain and bad light halted play on Day 4. On the final morning, Siraj and Prasidh Krishna (4/126) dismantled England’s tail, bowling them out for 367. Tendulkar called it “absolute goosebumps,” rating India’s performance a “10/10” on X, while Kohli, recently retired from Tests, hailed Siraj’s “resilience and determination” for delivering a “phenomenal victory.”
Sourav Ganguly lauded the young team’s consistency, singling out Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, and Rishabh Pant, who, despite missing the Test due to a broken foot, praised the team’s hunger on Instagram. Sanjay Manjrekar noted the win—achieved without stalwarts like Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah—proved no individual is indispensable.
