India Set to Bring Their A Game Against Pakistan in World Cup Showdown

India’s bowling coach Aavishkar Salvi emphasises preparation, rotation, and confidence ahead of Pakistan’s World Cup face-off.

India’s bowling coach Aavishkar Salvi emphasised that the team will bring their "A game" to the highly anticipated Women’s World Cup match against Pakistan on Sunday, despite India’s dominant 11-0 record in women’s ODI encounters. Speaking in Colombo, Salvi stressed that the team is not underestimating their arch-rivals, treating the game as a critical part of the tournament’s long campaign. With bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan suspended, the teams only face off in multi-nation events like the World Cup, heightening the stakes and public interest.

Salvi highlighted India’s meticulous preparation, leveraging extensive data and footage to analyse Pakistan’s playing patterns. "We take every game on its merit and prepare with the best possible mindset," he said, noting that the team focuses on clear strategies for both collective and individual goals. India’s recent experience at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium, where they played a successful tri-series in May, adds to their confidence. Sneh Rana, who was named player of the series in that tournament, brings valuable familiarity with the venue, enhancing India’s strategic edge despite changing weather conditions.

India’s bowling unit, a key strength, boasts remarkable depth with around 10 options, including seasoned spinners Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, and Shree Charan. Salvi praised the spin trio’s chemistry, developed over recent series, and their adaptability to varying conditions. The team’s strategy includes workload management, as demonstrated by resting pacer Renuka Thakur in the tournament opener. "It’s a long campaign, and we will manage rest and recovery to ensure all bowlers are ready when needed," Salvi explained, underscoring the balance between experience and emerging talent.

The match, set for Sunday at R Premadasa Stadium, is expected to draw significant attention due to the historic rivalry. India’s confidence stems from their versatile attack, with bowlers capable of both taking wickets and maintaining economy. Salvi’s remarks reflect a focused, professional approach, aiming to keep the team grounded amid the hype. As India aims to maintain their unbeaten streak against Pakistan, the clash promises a showcase of strategic cricket in the Women’s World Cup.
