India Crush Australia by 48 Runs in 4th T20I, Seal 2-1 Series Lead with Dominant Bowling Display

India thrash Australia by 48 runs in 4th T20I – spinners trigger 7/28 collapse as Men in Blue take 2-1 lead.

India produced a clinical all-round performance to crush Australia by 48 runs in the fourth T20 International at Queensland, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. The victory came on the back of a disciplined bowling effort that saw the hosts collapse spectacularly, losing their last seven wickets for a mere 28 runs. India, led by captain Suryakumar Yadav, outplayed the Australians in all departments to move closer to clinching the series.

Chasing 168, Australia never quite managed to keep up with the required run rate as Indian bowlers tightened their grip during the middle overs. Washington Sundar delivered a brilliant spell, picking up three wickets late in the innings, while Axar Patel and Shivam Dube chipped in with two wickets each. The hosts, who looked comfortable at 91 for 3 at one stage, eventually folded for just 119. Tight lines, sharp fielding, and well-timed bowling changes ensured that India stayed ahead throughout the chase.

Earlier, India posted 167 for 8 after being put into bat. Vice-captain Shubman Gill anchored the innings with a composed 46 before falling just short of a half-century. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Gill gave the visitors a fast start, while captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed a brisk 20 off 10 balls. Axar Patel and Washington Sundar added crucial runs in the final overs, helping India post a competitive total on a two-paced surface.

Australia’s bowlers, led by Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis, managed to keep India’s middle order in check during the second half of the innings, but their efforts were undone by a batting collapse. Batters like Mitchell Marsh and Josh Ingles got starts but failed to convert them as India’s spinners took charge. Fielding excellence also played a role, with India effecting two critical catches in the deep to break Australia’s momentum.

With this emphatic win, India now lead the series 2-1 heading into the fifth and final T20I. The team’s combination of youthful energy and tactical adaptability has been the standout of the series so far. The final encounter promises to be an intense showdown, with Australia now under pressure to level the series, while India aim to seal yet another T20 triumph on foreign soil.
