India Bowl Out New Zealand For 135; Vaibhav Suryavanshi Starts Chase Strongly
India dominates with RS Ambrish's four wickets to bowl out New Zealand for 135; now chasing a revised target in a rain-affected U19 clash.
India Under-19 bundled out New Zealand Under-19 for 135 runs in 36.2 overs in their U19 World Cup 2026 match on Saturday, setting themselves a modest target of 136 to win. The contest at the Queens Sports Club was reduced to 37 overs per side following two separate rain interruptions, but India maintained control throughout the New Zealand innings.
After opting to bowl first, India’s young bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, applying constant pressure and striking at regular intervals. New Zealand struggled to build partnerships as wickets fell steadily, preventing any momentum despite the shortened format. The pitch offered some assistance, which the Indian bowlers exploited effectively with consistent line and length.
RS Ambrish emerged as the standout performer for India, claiming four wickets to dismantle the New Zealand batting order. He was well supported by Henil Patel, who picked up three crucial wickets. The rest of the bowling unit also contributed, with Khilan Patel, Mohamed Enan, and Kanishk Chouhan chipping in with a wicket apiece to ensure New Zealand were bowled out before using their full quota of overs.

With the bat, India will look for a solid and composed start as they begin the chase of 136. Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be in focus as India aims to avoid early setbacks and manage the target sensibly in the rain-affected encounter. Given the conditions and the reduced overs, a measured approach at the top is expected to be key.
The match forms part of India’s U19 World Cup 2026 campaign, where consistency and adaptability are expected to play a major role. With a strong bowling display already under their belt, India will be confident of completing the chase and strengthening their position in the tournament as the game progresses.
