IND vs WI 2nd ODI: Rohit Sharma Fifty Helps India Cross 90 Without Loss
Gill provides support as India cross 90 without losing wicket.
India made a blazing start to their record 406-run chase against the West Indies in the second ODI in Guwahati, with Rohit Sharma reaching a quick half-century and Shubman Gill providing strong support at the other end. Chasing 406 after West Indies posted 405/7, India raced past 90 without losing a wicket, keeping the required run rate under control during the opening phase.
Rohit continued his aggressive approach at the top of the order after making 32 in the opening ODI. The veteran batter attacked the West Indies bowlers with a combination of boundaries and powerful strokeplay, reaching his half-century as India maintained a rapid scoring rate. His innings gave India the ideal platform in pursuit of what would be a record ODI chase for the team.
Captain Shubman Gill also played positively alongside Rohit, finding boundaries and rotating the strike effectively. The pair put together a century opening partnership, giving India considerable momentum in the early stages of the chase. Gill had already scored 110 in the first ODI and entered the second game after helping India take an early 1-0 lead in the series.

West Indies had earlier produced a huge total after being sent in to bat. John Campbell smashed a century from just 65 balls, while captain Shai Hope scored 104 from 94 deliveries. Amir Jangoo then added a blistering 114 from 77 balls, helping the visitors cross the 400-run mark and set India a daunting target.
India's bowlers struggled to contain the West Indies batting for much of the innings, although Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja claimed two wickets each. Kuldeep also completed 200 ODI wickets during the innings, while Gurnoor Brar took two wickets as India eventually restricted West Indies to 405/7 from their 50 overs.
The second ODI has turned into a high-scoring contest, with India responding to West Indies' enormous total through an equally aggressive opening partnership. India lead the three-match series 1-0 after winning the first ODI by eight wickets, and a victory in Guwahati would give them the series. With Rohit and Gill providing a rapid start, India remain firmly in the contest as the chase continues.
