Cricket West Indies confirms players returned home safely.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) has confirmed that members of the West Indies squad that participated in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 have returned safely after facing travel disruptions linked to rising tensions in parts of the Middle East. The cricket board said the players and support staff are now secure after completing their journeys back following the tournament.
In a statement, the governing body said it had been closely monitoring the situation while coordinating with international authorities and travel partners to ensure the team’s safe transit. Concerns had emerged earlier after reports of flight disruptions and heightened security measures affecting travel routes used by several international teams returning from the tournament.
Cricket West Indies thanked regional governments, airline authorities and diplomatic officials who assisted in facilitating the team’s movement during a period of uncertainty. The board noted that the safety of players, coaching staff and management personnel had remained its top priority throughout the process.

The West Indies squad had been traveling after completing their campaign in the T20 World Cup, one of the sport’s most prestigious global tournaments. While the team’s on-field performance attracted attention during the competition, the focus in recent days shifted to ensuring the players’ safe passage home amid the broader geopolitical tensions affecting international travel corridors.
CWI also acknowledged the concern shown by fans across the Caribbean and around the world after reports surfaced about potential travel complications. The board said it remained in constant communication with players and their families, providing updates until everyone had safely reached their respective destinations.
With the squad now confirmed safe, attention is expected to return to cricketing matters as West Indies begin preparations for upcoming international fixtures. Officials indicated that players will now take a short break before regrouping for future series and training camps scheduled later in the year.
