Arshdeep Singh Credits Process and Self-Belief Behind India's Back-To-Back T20 World Cup Wins

Arshdeep Singh outlines India's ambition to win five trophies in ten years after the T20 title defence.

Arshdeep Singh has revealed that the India national cricket team has set an ambitious long-term goal of winning multiple international trophies over the next decade following its historic triumph at the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The left-arm fast bowler said the team’s strong focus on discipline, process and belief played a major role in securing the title on home soil, marking a significant moment in Indian cricket history.

India clinched the championship with a dominant 96-run victory over New Zealand national cricket team in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The victory made India the first team to successfully defend the T20 World Cup title, while also becoming the first side to win the tournament three times. The triumph in front of a home crowd further added to the significance of the achievement.

Reflecting on the team’s mindset after its earlier title win, Arshdeep said the squad had already discussed setting a long-term benchmark for success. According to him, senior players including Hardik Pandya and several members of the core group had emphasized the need to maintain high standards and aim to win at least five major trophies in the next ten years. He said the team focused on maintaining consistent performance levels rather than worrying about results.

Arshdeep, who took nine wickets in eight matches during the tournament at an economy rate of 8.46, said following the right process helped the team stay confident throughout the competition. He explained that the players trusted their preparation and execution, which allowed them to perform under pressure in key matches. According to the pacer, sticking to their approach ensured that results eventually followed their efforts.

The fast bowler also spoke highly of bowling alongside senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who finished as the tournament’s joint highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets. Arshdeep described Bumrah as a player for whom cricket appears effortless, adding that his work ethic and dedication serve as a major source of inspiration for younger teammates within the squad.

Arshdeep also expressed gratitude to fans for their unwavering support during the campaign. He said the encouragement from supporters was especially important during difficult moments when the team faced setbacks in the tournament. The pacer is now set to shift his focus to franchise cricket, where he will represent Punjab Kings in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League in 2026.
