‘A Moment I’ll Cherish Forever’: Pratika Rawal Felicitated for World Cup Success

DDCA honours World Cup winners Rawal and Mohan, announces plans for an accessible stadium in Delhi.

The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Monday felicitated India’s recent World Cup champions, Pratika Rawal and Udhav Mohan, at the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) National Convention, held under the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Delhi Sports Journalists Association. The ceremony recognized the achievements of the young cricketers who have risen through Delhi’s cricketing system to achieve national and international success.

Rawal, a key member of India’s historic women’s ODI World Cup win in 2025, received a cash prize of ₹11 lakh. Mohan, who played a pivotal role in India’s Under-19 World Cup triumph in 2025/26, was awarded an identical prize. The event brought together administrators, journalists, and sportspeople to celebrate excellence in Indian cricket and highlight the importance of nurturing talent from the grassroots.

DDCA President Rohan Jaitley lauded both players, noting that their success would inspire countless young cricketers. “Achievements like these motivate young players who dream of representing the country. Recognition and encouragement are essential in developing the next generation of talent,” he said. Jaitley also announced plans for a new international cricket stadium in Delhi designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring that people with mobility, speech, vision, or sensory challenges can enjoy matches comfortably.

Rawal described the felicitation as a deeply meaningful milestone in her career. “It feels really good to be recognized on such a big stage, especially by the DDCA and Rohan sir. This is a moment I will cherish for the rest of my life,” she said. She emphasized that recognition motivates young players to perform even better, creating a cycle of achievement and encouragement for future cricketers.

For Mohan, the recognition marked an early but significant milestone. The young cricketer trains at the West Delhi Cricket Academy under coach Rajkumar Sharma, known for mentoring Indian cricket star Virat Kohli. “This support from DDCA motivates us to keep improving, play better cricket, and make our state and country proud,” he said. Mohan highlighted the rigorous Delhi cricket system, noting that representing the state from Under-16 to Under-19 teams helped him develop consistency and resilience.

The DDCA’s recognition of Rawal and Mohan underscores the growing focus on promoting cricket in Delhi and providing young athletes with the resources, facilities, and encouragement needed to succeed on national and international stages. With plans for an accessible stadium, the association aims to make the sport more inclusive while continuing to foster talent from the grassroots level.
