Smriti Mandhana Reappears After Wedding Postponement, Missing Ring Draws Attention
Fans spot no engagement ring in cricketer’s emotional return post.
Indian Women's Cricket Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana made her first public appearance since her high-profile wedding to music composer Palash Muchhal was abruptly postponed on November 23, returning to Instagram with a promotional video that has ignited intense speculation among millions of followers.
The ceremony in Sangli was halted hours before it was scheduled to begin when Mandhana’s father, Srinivas, suffered a serious health scare and required immediate hospitalisation. A day later, Palash Muchhal was also admitted, forcing both families to prioritise recovery over celebrations. Though both individuals have since been discharged, no revised wedding date has been announced.
In the brand collaboration video released on Friday, the 28-year-old star spoke about her dream of lifting India’s maiden Women’s World Cup trophy. However, eagle-eyed viewers quickly noticed the conspicuous absence of her engagement ring, propelling the clip to viral status and triggering a flood of concerned reactions across social media platforms.

The observation gained further momentum when fans realised Mandhana has quietly deleted all wedding-related photographs and posts from her accounts. Many expressed distress over what they perceived as a “pain-stricken” tone in her voice, while others debated whether the advertisement had been filmed months earlier, before her engagement became public.
Despite the swirling rumours, both families have consistently maintained that the postponement resulted exclusively from medical emergencies and bears no reflection on the couple’s relationship. Palash’s mother Amita Muchhal and his sister, singer Palak Muchhal, have appealed for privacy and understanding, emphasising that the families remain united and hopeful for the wedding to proceed once health concerns are fully resolved.
