Smriti Mandhana Postpones Wedding Amid Father’s Hospitalisation, Deletes All Wedding Posts
Smriti Mandhana postpones wedding indefinitely due to her father's health emergency.
Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has postponed her much-anticipated wedding to music composer Palash Muchhal after her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, was hospitalized with symptoms of a heart attack. Scheduled to take place on November 23 in Sangli, Maharashtra, the ceremony was called off as Shrinivas was admitted to Sarvhit Hospital for ongoing observation due to elevated cardiac enzymes and high blood pressure. Smriti’s manager confirmed that the wedding would be postponed until her father's health stabilizes.
In a move that caught widespread attention, Smriti deleted all her Instagram posts related to the wedding, including engagement and proposal videos, while leaving personal photos with Palash intact. Close friends and teammates like Jemimah Rodrigues and Shreyanka Patil also removed related posts, fueling public curiosity and concern. Despite this, pre-wedding festivities such as haldi and mehendi were celebrated before the postponement, attended by members of the Indian women's cricket team.
Further adding to the family’s ordeal, Palash Muchhal himself was briefly hospitalized due to a viral infection and acidity but has since been discharged and is recovering. Palash's mother described the emotional toll of the situation, noting the stress he experienced amid the family crisis. The couple and their families have requested privacy as they focus on Smriti’s father’s recovery.
