Health Scare Deepens: After Mandhana’s Father, Fiancé Palash Muchhal Also Hospitalised
Cricket star's big day derailed by double family health scare in Sangli.
The highly anticipated wedding of Indian women's cricket sensation Smriti Mandhana to music composer Palash Muchhal, scheduled for November 23, 2025, in her hometown of Sangli, Maharashtra, has been indefinitely postponed following a series of medical emergencies within the immediate family, casting a pall over what was to be a joyous week-long celebration.
The crisis unfolded around 1:30 PM on Sunday when Mandhana's father, Srinivas Mandhana, experienced severe left-sided chest pain indicative of angina pectoris, a condition often linked to coronary heart disease and exacerbated by the physical and mental stress of the ongoing festivities. An ambulance was promptly dispatched to the wedding venue, and he was swiftly transferred to Sarvhit Hospital for comprehensive evaluation, including ECG and blood tests that revealed elevated cardiac enzymes.
Compounding the distress, Mandhana's fiancé, Palash Muchhal, also required medical attention later that day after his condition worsened due to a viral infection compounded by heightened acidity. Sources confirmed that Muchhal was admitted to a private facility but received prompt treatment, allowing him to return to the hotel shortly thereafter, with no indication of long-term concerns.

Family physician Dr. Naman Shah, Director of Sarvhit Hospital, provided a measured update, stating that a dedicated medical team is closely monitoring Srinivas Mandhana's vital signs, including his slightly elevated blood pressure, which is being actively managed. "If progress continues as anticipated, discharge could occur as early as today; however, should symptoms intensify, an angiography may be necessary," Dr. Shah informed PTI, emphasizing constant communication with Mandhana and her family.
With pre-wedding rituals such as the haldi and mehendi ceremonies already graced by teammates like Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma, the entire schedule now hinges on the patriarch's recovery, underscoring the family's unwavering commitment to his well-being over matrimonial proceedings.
