Yogi Slams Opposition for 'One District, One Mafia'
Adityanath accuses opposition of fostering mafia culture
On July 9, 2025, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a blistering attack on opposition parties, accusing them of promoting a "one district, one mafia" policy during their rule, contrasting it with his government’s development-driven "One District, One Product" (ODOP) initiative and zero-tolerance stance on crime. Speaking at an event in Gorakhpur, Adityanath targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP), Congress, and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for allegedly fostering corruption and lawlessness.
“They turned schemes into centers of corruption and loot,” Adityanath said, criticizing the opposition’s tenure. He alleged that their governments enabled mafias to engage in illegal forest felling, mining, land grabbing, and oppression of the poor, spreading “poison in society through nepotism.” He credited his administration’s crackdown on crime for restoring safety and eliminating the state’s “identity crisis” for youth.
Adityanath singled out the SP’s handling of the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC) in Lucknow, alleging financial irregularities. “The JPNIC cost was Rs 200 crore, but by 2017, Rs 860 crore was spent, and it’s still incomplete,” he claimed, noting an ongoing CBI probe. Without naming SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, he mocked, “That’s why ‘babua’ is furious—his corruption is being exposed.”

Defending his government’s tree plantation drive, Adityanath challenged critics, asserting that his policies, like ODOP, empower artisans and create jobs, replacing the opposition’s mafia-centric legacy with economic growth. He highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s transformation into a safer, investment-friendly state since 2017, contrasting it with the pre-2017 era when “traders fled due to lawlessness.”
The CM’s remarks underscore his ongoing narrative of contrasting BJP’s governance with the opposition’s alleged mismanagement, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a model of development and security.
