Gehlot Slams Rajasthan Govt’s Failure to Curb Crime, Corruption, and Neglect of Welfare
Gehlot Slams Rajasthan Govt for Rising Crime, Corruption
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Bhajanlal Sharma-led Rajasthan government, accusing it of failing to control escalating crime, rampant corruption, and neglecting critical welfare schemes. Speaking at the Congress headquarters during an event marking the birth anniversary of late party leader Girija Vyas, Gehlot urged the Chief Minister to act swiftly to restore public trust.
Highlighting a recent report of three thefts at Congress MLA Deen Dayal Bairwa’s residence, Gehlot said, “If an MLA’s home is hit thrice, as reported on a newspaper’s front page, imagine the plight of ordinary citizens.” He criticized the collapse of the state’s complaint system, stating, “Hooliganism is rampant, mafias dominate, and people have nowhere to turn.”
Gehlot singled out the sand mafia’s growing influence, noting, “Gravel prices are skyrocketing, police are under attack, and the mafia has taken over, yet there’s no control.” He also slammed the government’s handling of health schemes, claiming the Rs 25 lakh Chiranjeevi health insurance cover is misleadingly perceived as reduced to Rs 5 lakh, undermining public faith. The Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS) for state employees, once robust, is now “collapsed,” leaving employees dissatisfied, he added.

Urging Sharma to leverage state intelligence to verify these issues, Gehlot said, “If our concerns are baseless, fine. But if true, fix them.” He criticized the government’s focus on public relations over governance, advising, “Tours are fine, but governance is essential. Use your authority as CM.” Emphasizing constructive criticism, Gehlot added, “The opposition isn’t your enemy. We warn you for your own benefit.”
The remarks, echoed in recent posts on X, reflect growing public discontent with the BJP government’s handling of law and order, particularly as incidents of theft and mafia activity rise.
