Uddhav Thackeray Holds Parliamentary Meeting As ‘Operation Tiger’ Reports Surface
Shiv Sena (UBT) meets amid alleged MP poaching claims.
Amid growing political speculation over possible defections and internal realignments, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday convened a meeting of his party’s parliamentary board in Mumbai. The meeting was attended by senior leaders along with Members of Parliament from both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, as the party moved to reinforce unity ahead of the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament.
The development comes against the backdrop of reports suggesting that Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is pursuing what has been described as “Operation Tiger”, an alleged political strategy aimed at persuading some Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs to switch allegiance. According to political sources, the reported objective of the exercise is to strengthen the Shiv Sena’s presence in the Lok Sabha and align support with the BJP on key legislative agendas.
Adding to the political buzz, Shiv Sena MP Pratap Jadhav stated that the so-called “Operation Tiger” is in its final phase and is expected to conclude soon. He further claimed that several Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs are in contact with Shinde and suggested that developments could unfold at an appropriate political moment. These remarks have intensified speculation around possible shifts within Maharashtra’s opposition ranks.

Unverified political sources have also claimed that a majority of the nine Shiv Sena (UBT) Lok Sabha MPs may be in contact with Shinde, with discussions reportedly taking place over political alignment and future prospects. It has been suggested that meetings were held earlier in Thane involving MPs of the UBT faction, though these claims have not been independently confirmed by official party statements.
The same sources further indicated that any potential switching of MPs could be timed around the monsoon session of Parliament, during which key legislative proposals such as delimitation-related measures and women’s reservation bills are expected to be discussed. However, these assertions remain politically sensitive and have not been substantiated by formal documentation or official confirmations from the parties involved.
As speculation continues, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leadership is closely monitoring internal cohesion within its parliamentary ranks. With multiple parties in Maharashtra engaged in competitive political positioning, the situation underscores the ongoing volatility in the state’s political landscape ahead of crucial parliamentary proceedings.
