Supriya Sule Demands Immediate Repatriation of 41 Stranded Indians in Riyadh
Supriya Sule urges urgent repatriation for 41 Indians stranded abroad.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule has called on the Indian government and the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia to provide urgent assistance to 41 Indian citizens stranded in Riyadh after their flight to Mumbai was abruptly cancelled. The passengers, hailing from Bhokardan in Maharashtra, have been unable to return home due to the disruption.
Sule, NCP Working President and Lok Sabha MP from Baramati, shared the names of all 41 stranded individuals and highlighted the urgency of their situation. “41 Indian citizens from Bhokardan, Maharashtra, are currently stranded in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, after their Akasa Air flight from Riyadh to Mumbai was suddenly cancelled,” she stated on X, urging authorities to facilitate their safe return.
She appealed specifically to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and the Indian Embassy in Riyadh to intervene and provide immediate repatriation support. The MP emphasized the need for swift action to ensure the passengers are brought back without further delays.

Responding promptly, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh confirmed that it is coordinating with Akasa Air to extend all necessary assistance. “We are checking with Akasa Air, Madam. We will extend all support needed,” the Embassy said in a statement, indicating ongoing efforts to resolve the situation.
The disruption follows Akasa Air’s suspension of flights to Riyadh, Doha, and Kuwait until April 12, 2026, citing safety reviews related to the situation in West Asia. The airline has offered passengers a waiver on cancellation and rescheduling fees. “Flights to/from Doha, Riyadh, and Kuwait are suspended until April 12, 2026. Passengers may opt for a full refund or reschedule their travel at no additional cost,” the airline said in an official statement.
Sule’s intervention underscores the challenges faced by Indian travelers amid sudden flight suspensions and highlights the role of government and embassy coordination in ensuring citizens’ safety abroad. With Akasa Air working to assist affected passengers, efforts are ongoing to facilitate the swift return of all 41 individuals to Maharashtra.
