Dubai Consulate Sets Up Round-The-Clock Helpline as Thousands of Indians Seek Return Home
Dubai Consulate opens 24x7 helpline to assist Indians facing travel disruptions amid Middle East tensions.
The Consulate General of India in Dubai has established a 24x7 control room to assist Indian citizens facing travel disruptions as tensions continue to rise across parts of the Middle East. The move comes amid increasing concerns among thousands of Indian travellers dealing with cancelled flights, visa complications and uncertainty over their return plans.
According to officials, the helplines set up by the consulate have been receiving a steady stream of calls from Indians whose travel plans have been affected. Many travellers have reported cancelled or rescheduled flights, while others are seeking guidance on visa validity and possible overstays due to delays. The mission said it is working round the clock to address these issues and provide support to citizens attempting to return to India.
Dubai remains one of the region’s largest international travel and transit hubs, making it a key point for Indian travellers. When the disruptions began, authorities estimated that around 2.25 lakh Indian nationals were stranded across the United Arab Emirates. Since then, approximately one lakh people have managed to travel back to India through regular and additional flight services arranged by airlines operating between the two countries.

Officials said that nearly 480 flights have operated from the UAE to Delhi during this period, enabling thousands of passengers to return home. The consulate is coordinating closely with airlines and local authorities to facilitate additional departures, while also addressing travel-related concerns faced by stranded passengers. Some Indian residents and visitors have also chosen to remain in the UAE with relatives as the situation stabilizes.
Meanwhile, India’s Ambassador to the UAE, Dr. Deepak Mittal, along with Consul General Satish Sivan, recently met representatives of the Indian community to discuss their wellbeing and address concerns arising from the ongoing situation. The meeting aimed to reassure community members that diplomatic missions remain operational and ready to provide assistance.
Officials reiterated that both the Embassy and the Dubai consulate continue to function fully despite the challenges. With many travellers still seeking to return home, the Indian mission said its priority remains ensuring the safety, support and smooth travel of Indian citizens during the current period of uncertainty.
