Stalin Bolsters Voter Adhikar Yatra in Muzaffarpur

Tamil Nadu CM Joins Bihar’s Fight

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and DMK MP Kanimozhi joined Congress’ Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district on Wednesday, amplifying the opposition’s campaign against alleged voter suppression.

Stalin, landing in Darbhanga, posted on X, “Touchdown #Bihar... the land of respected @laluprasadrjd greets me with fire in its eyes, the soil heavy with every stolen vote. Joined my brothers @RahulGandhi, @yadavtejashwi and sister @priyankagandhi as the #VoteAdhikarYatra turns people’s pain into unstoppable strength.”

The 1,300-km yatra, launched on August 17 from Sasaram, protests the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which DMK claims deleted 65 lakh anti-BJP voters from Bihar’s rolls. Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition, and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav led a motorcycle rally through Muzaffarpur, with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra riding pillion, drawing thousands of supporters. The yatra, covering 15 districts, will culminate in a Patna rally on September 1.

Stalin’s participation, alongside Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and other INDIA bloc leaders, underscores opposition unity ahead of Bihar’s 2025 assembly polls. The DMK has criticized the SIR as a BJP tactic to manipulate elections, with Stalin alleging it targets marginalized communities. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu BJP’s K. Annamalai countered, releasing a video compilation of alleged anti-Bihari remarks by DMK leaders, challenging Stalin to repeat them in Bihar.

The yatra’s momentum, bolstered by grassroots events like two-wheeler rallies in Purnea, aims to protect democratic rights, with Congress claiming it’s a “historic agitation against vote chori.”
