Annamalai Targets Stalin with Anti-Bihari Remarks Video

DMK's Insults Exposed Before Bihar Rally

As Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin arrived in Bihar to join Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Adhikar Yatra on Wednesday, Tamil Nadu BJP leader K. Annamalai released a provocative video compilation, alleging it captures “uncouth” anti-Bihari remarks by DMK leaders and their allies. Annamalai challenged Stalin to repeat these comments on stage in Bihar, escalating political tensions between the BJP and DMK.

The compilation includes clips purportedly featuring Stalin, ministers TRB Rajaa and KN Nehru, senior DMK leaders K. Ponmudy and RS Bharathi, and VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan, a DMK ally. Annamalai, former Tamil Nadu BJP chief, posted on X, “TN CM Thiru @mkstalin avl is in Bihar today. Here is an evergreen compilation of his, his party members’, and his alliance partners’ uncouth remarks about our Bihari brothers and sisters. Hope he proudly repeats every one of those insults with Thiru @RahulGandhi avl.”

The video revisits past controversies, including a 2023 remark by DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran, who allegedly said Hindi speakers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar “clean toilets” in Tamil Nadu, prompting widespread backlash. Annamalai previously highlighted TRB Rajaa’s 2020 X posts disparaging Biharis, accusing the DMK of divisive rhetoric. Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, an RJD leader and INDIA bloc ally, condemned such remarks in 2023, urging DMK leaders to avoid generalizations and focus on social justice issues.

This move comes amid strained relations within the INDIA bloc, with Annamalai accusing the DMK of hypocrisy for aligning with northern allies while mocking their communities. Stalin’s Bihar visit aims to bolster opposition unity ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections, but Annamalai’s video seeks to spotlight contradictions. The BJP has long criticized the DMK’s anti-Hindi stance, with Annamalai recently calling their opposition to the three-language policy a “facade” while their leaders’ children learn Hindi in private schools.

The DMK has not officially responded, but sources indicate they may dismiss the compilation as outdated or edited, as they did with Maran’s video in 2023. Political analysts suggest Annamalai’s tactic aims to weaken DMK’s credibility in Bihar and among Hindi-speaking voters in Tamil Nadu, where migration from northern states is significant. The controversy risks straining DMK’s ties with allies like RJD and JD(U), who face pressure to address such remarks.
