RJD Leader Absent for Majority of Winter Session, NDA Questions Accountability and Travel
Tejashwi skips winter session, holidays in Europe after election rout.
The ruling NDA in Bihar tore into Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav with unrestrained fury on Friday after the RJD heir attended only the opening two days of the five-day winter session and vanished completely from the remaining sittings, leaving the opposition front bench empty as the House concluded its business.
Having already boycotted the glittering swearing-in ceremony of the new Nitish Kumar-led NDA Government at the historic Gandhi Maidan on November 20, Tejashwi’s continued absence has fuelled reports that he has flown to Europe for an extended family vacation, barely three weeks after the RJD suffered its worst electoral humiliation in decades, managing to win just 25 of the 143 seats it contested.
JD(U) Chief Spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar led the assault, lamenting that the “temple of democracy appears hollow and incomplete” without the Leader of the Opposition and sarcastically wondering whether Tejashwi was genuinely unwell, trapped in court hearings, or simply unable to face the House because of overwhelming “political embarrassment” over the crushing mandate against his party.

Several NDA leaders escalated the rhetoric by alleging that Tejashwi is holidaying abroad in the company of a known “history-sheeter” and demanded to know whether he secured mandatory court permission for foreign travel given the multiple criminal cases pending against him, while BJP minister Nitin Nabin branded the former deputy chief minister a serial absentee who has made skipping legislative duties a lifelong habit.
RJD Spokesperson Ejaz Ali Ahmad hit back with biting sarcasm, advising Neeraj Kumar to abandon his sudden ambition of becoming “another Vasco da Gama trying to discover Tejashwi’s location” and asserted that the Leader of the Opposition would return whenever he deemed fit to resume his constitutional responsibilities.
