Rahul Gandhi & Kharge to Ignite Bhubaneswar with 'Save Constitution' Rally!

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge will address a major rally in Bhubaneswar, joined by KC Venugopal, to champion constitutional values amid local protests

Congress heavyweights Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and party president Mallikarjun Kharge will headline the ‘Samvidhan Bachao Samavesh’ at Baramunda Ground in Bhubaneswar on Friday, alongside general secretary KC Venugopal. Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhakta Charan Das announced that Gandhi will arrive around 11:30 AM, meeting farmers and project-displaced communities before the rally.

Unlike Gandhi’s typical pre-election visits to Odisha, this event, with no polls imminent, aims to rally support for constitutional protection. The city braces for heavy traffic between Airport Square and Jaydev Vihar Square, prompting a police advisory. Meanwhile, the Drivers’ Mahasangha, striking for welfare measures, agreed to pause protests to facilitate rally attendance, a move state Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena called politically motivated on X. Jena urged drivers to end the strike, citing ongoing talks to address their demands.

Das accused the state government of orchestrating the drivers’ strike to disrupt essential commodity transport, alleging a “political conspiracy.” The rally, expected to draw thousands, underscores Congress’s push to mobilize public sentiment on governance issues, with social media buzzing about its potential impact on Odisha’s political landscape.
