Rahul Gandhi Criticises Bihar Police Lathi-Charge On Teacher Aspirants, Targets BJP On Jobs

Rahul Gandhi condemns Bihar police action on teacher aspirants, blaming BJP for rising unemployment concerns.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday strongly criticised the Bihar Police over its reported action against teacher aspirants who were protesting in Patna. The demonstration was held to demand clarity and urgency in government recruitment processes for teaching posts. Gandhi said the incident reflected a growing gap between the government and unemployed youth across the state.

According to Gandhi, police allegedly used force against candidates who were participating in a peaceful protest over long-pending employment issues. In a post on X, he claimed that instead of addressing their demands, the state machinery responded with force. He described the situation as symbolic of what he called an “indifferent approach” towards job-seeking youth in Bihar.

Gandhi further argued that unemployment has become one of the most serious challenges in India, particularly affecting young people in states such as Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. He said that despite having degrees and skills, millions of youth are struggling to secure stable jobs. He also alleged that the government has failed to provide adequate employment opportunities or meaningful solutions to rising joblessness.

He also extended support to the protesting aspirants, stating that the Congress party stands with unemployed youth. Gandhi claimed that frustration among young people is increasing due to repeated recruitment delays and limited government vacancies. He added that protests are becoming a common expression of this dissatisfaction, and warned that ignoring such concerns could deepen public anger.

The remarks come amid ongoing protests in Bihar by teacher aspirants demanding faster recruitment and transparency in selection processes. The issue has triggered political debate in the state, with opposition parties accusing the government of mishandling demonstrations and failing to address employment concerns. Protesters have been calling for reforms in the recruitment system and timely filling of vacancies.

Meanwhile, Bihar recently witnessed a major political development with a cabinet expansion under the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. A total of 32 ministers were inducted in a ceremony held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, including members from alliance partners such as Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha. The expansion was aimed at strengthening governance after the NDA secured a decisive mandate in the state.
