Rachna Banerjee Denies Rebellion Against Mamata Banerjee, Cites Work Obstacles

Rachna Banerjee denies rebellion against Mamata, cites obstacles.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and actor Rachna Banerjee on Tuesday dismissed speculation of internal rebellion within the party, stating that there can be no dissent against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and reaffirming her respect for the TMC supremo amid reports of growing political unrest within the organisation. Her remarks come at a time when sections of the party are reportedly facing internal churn, with claims of dissatisfaction among some Lok Sabha MPs and speculation over possible political realignments.

However, Banerjee firmly rejected the idea of any rebellion, emphasising that her relationship with Mamata Banerjee remains unchanged and rooted in long-standing association. Speaking to a news agency, she acknowledged that Mamata Banerjee is the central figure of the Trinamool Congress and said the party’s electoral success is closely tied to her leadership. She stated that voters often identify the party through Mamata Banerjee’s image and trust her as the face of the organisation, which significantly influences electoral outcomes.

Banerjee further said that her own electoral victory was also shaped by this broader political trust in the party leadership, adding that voters supported her candidature with the expectation that she would work effectively for her constituency. She clarified that this was not a matter of dissatisfaction or resentment but rather an acknowledgment of the political reality in West Bengal. Addressing governance challenges, she noted that administrative coordination between the Centre and the state has often affected the execution of development work.

She suggested that smoother cooperation between governments at both levels would make implementation of projects easier, pointing to long-standing issues in federal coordination over the past several years. Her comments come amid heightened political activity within the TMC, with reports of internal differences and shifting alignments drawing attention.

Despite this backdrop, Banerjee’s statement positions her firmly within the party fold while also highlighting administrative concerns related to governance and inter-governmental relations. The clarification is seen as an effort to dispel speculation of factionalism, even as political discussions continue around unity and stability within the party’s parliamentary representation.
