Priyanka Gandhi Slams UP’s Shocking School Closure Plan: A Blow to Dalits, Poor, and Girls’ Education!

Priyanka Gandhi blasts UP's plan to shut 5,000 schools, hitting Dalits, poor, and girls.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has unleashed a scathing attack on the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government, accusing it of plotting to shut down nearly 5,000 government schools under the guise of a merger plan, a move she claims violates the Right to Education and targets Dalits, backward classes, tribals, minorities, and the poor.

The Yogi Adityanath administration defends the decision as a necessary step to streamline resources, citing low enrollment, teacher shortages, and redundant infrastructure. However, Priyanka Gandhi, in a fiery Hindi post on X, alleged the government’s true aim is far more drastic, with teachers’ organizations warning that up to 27,000 schools could face closure.

Highlighting the UPA’s Right to Education Act, which ensured schools in every village for accessible education, Priyanka questioned the impact on vulnerable children. “How will young kids, especially girls, walk kilometers to distant schools? This will disrupt their education,” she charged. She slammed the move as a direct assault on marginalized communities, stripping away their fundamental right to education.

The controversy has ignited fierce debate, with critics arguing the merger plan risks alienating the most disadvantaged, particularly girls, who may drop out due to inaccessible schools. As the battle over UP’s education policy heats up, Priyanka’s bold stand is rallying support and raising questions about the BJP’s priorities. Will this spark a larger fight for educational equity.
