Prashant Kishor Exposes Bihar Ministers’ Alleged Corruption, Fake Degrees
Prashant Kishor exposes alleged fake degree, massive land scam in NDA.
In a fiery press conference ahead of Bihar's high-stakes assembly elections, Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor unleashed a barrage of accusations against the NDA government, targeting Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary's educational credentials and JD(U) minister Ashok Choudhary's alleged corruption. Kishor demanded immediate probes, claiming the revelations expose deep rot within the ruling alliance, far worse than scandals plaguing opposition parties like RJD.
Kishor zeroed in on Samrat Choudhary, the BJP leader and Bihar Legislative Council member, questioning the legitimacy of his claimed Doctor of Letters (D-Litt) degree from "California Public University" in the USA, as listed in his election affidavits. "How can someone hold a doctorate without even passing Class 10?" Kishor thundered, citing Bihar School Examination Board records from a 1998 murder case hearing.
Those documents reportedly confirmed Choudhary failed his matric exams, while his 2010 affidavit declared him only Class 7 pass. Later filings mysteriously upgraded his qualifications, sparking doubts about the degree's authenticity—especially since inquiries suggest the named university no longer exists.
Adding fuel to the fire, Kishor highlighted Choudhary's colorful past, including a 1998 murder conviction overturned due to his minor status at the time, and multiple name changes: from Rakesh Kumar to Rakesh Kumar Maurya, Samrat Kumar Maurya, and finally Samrat Choudhary. "This chameleon of politics is now Bihar's Deputy CM. The Election Commission must demand his Class 10 certificate—or better yet, investigate this farce," Kishor urged, positioning the issue as a litmus test for the NDA's integrity.

Shifting gears, Kishor turned his guns on Ashok Choudhary, a close Nitish Kumar aide and state minister, accusing him of amassing Rs 200 crore worth of land through "dubious and illegal" means over the past three years. "Nitish Kumar handpicked this corrupt operator as a minister, letting him buy properties in his wife and daughter Shambhavi's names—Shambhavi, the Lok Sabha MP who allegedly bought her ticket from Chirag Paswan's party," Kishor alleged.
He claimed irrefutable evidence shows funds funneled through Ashok's wife's accounts to a Patna trust linked to his daughter's in-laws, with suspicious transfers starting right after her engagement. These claims echo earlier controversies, including a defamation suit filed by Ashok against Kishor in June 2025 over similar bribery allegations.
Kishor didn't spare the BJP's broader ranks, labeling its Bihar leaders "more corrupt than Lalu Prasad," whose RJD lost power over graft scandals. He even took a swipe at West Champaran BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal, dubbing him a "petrol chor" for allegedly inflating fuel bills at a petrol pump owned by his mother, which supplied the local municipal corporation. "Stop pointing fingers at me and clean your own house," Kishor quipped.
Neither Samrat nor Ashok Choudhary responded to repeated requests for comment. As Bihar gears up for polls, Kishor's anti-corruption crusade—mirroring BJP's own playbook—has put the NDA on the defensive, with Jan Suraaj gaining traction by positioning him as the state's "Mr Clean." The allegations, if substantiated, could trigger investigations and reshape the electoral landscape, forcing voters to confront the alliance's vulnerabilities head-on.
