PM Modi Criticizes Congress, RJD for Disrespecting Chhath Festival in Muzaffarpur Rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticized Congress and RJD leaders during a Muzaffarpur rally, accusing them of belittling the Chhath festival and its devotees for electoral gains. He highlighted the rigorous fasts observed by women without water and their offerings to Surya Dev in the Ganga, declaring that the opposition dismisses these sacred rituals as mere drama.

Modi questioned whether Bihar's mothers and sisters would tolerate such disrespect toward Chhathi Maiyya, asserting that no genuine Bihari could overlook the affront. He pledged his government's efforts to secure UNESCO intangible heritage status for the festival, positioning it as a symbol of cultural pride under NDA governance.

Escalating his offensive, the Prime Minister challenged the opposition's credibility on development, asking if those who plundered railways could ever enhance Bihar's connectivity. He encapsulated RJD's past rule with five condemnatory terms: katta (guns), krurta (cruelty), katuta (extremism), kusashan (misgovernance), and corruption—collectively defining their "jungle raj."

Referencing prior remarks, Modi reminded attendees that Bihar voters remain vigilant against the misdeeds of jungle raj, labeling the opposition alliance a "lathbandhan" of bail-dependent leaders. Through the NaMo App, he urged NDA partners to unite in campaigning for the upcoming two-phase elections, emphasizing collective promotion of the alliance's achievements.

The rally underscored Modi's strategy to frame the contest as a battle between cultural reverence and opportunistic politics, rallying NDA supporters ahead of the polls while portraying the opposition as detached from Bihar's traditions and progress.
