PM Modi Confident BJP Will Form Government In West Bengal After Polls
PM Modi predicts BJP government in West Bengal, vows return for oath-taking ceremony after results.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed strong confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would form the next government in West Bengal following the upcoming assembly elections. Addressing a public rally in Barrackpore on the final day of campaigning for the second and final phase of polling, he said he expected to return to the state for the oath-taking ceremony after the results are declared on May 4.
The Prime Minister told the gathering that the political atmosphere in West Bengal indicated a shift in public mood in favour of the BJP. “The mood that I have sensed in West Bengal, I can say that I have to come again during the oath-taking ceremony of the BJP government after May 4,” he said, drawing loud applause from supporters present at the rally.
In his address, Modi launched a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing it of encouraging “syndicate raj,” political violence, and economic decline in the state. He alleged that governance under the TMC had failed to support development and instead allowed illegal networks to expand influence across sectors.

The Prime Minister also highlighted Barrackpore’s historical significance, noting its role in India’s First War of Independence in 1857. He said the region once again symbolized political change and would play a part in shaping West Bengal’s future. He further stated that the state’s progress was essential for India’s overall development, particularly for the eastern region.
Modi also claimed that industries in West Bengal were declining while unlawful activities were increasing. He said, “On one hand, mills are closing down and on the other, crude bomb factories are coming up, employing goons, and the TMC's syndicate is expanding.” He urged voters to reject what he described as “syndicate raj” and support change in governance.
Concluding his speech, the Prime Minister accused the TMC of relying on abuse and intimidation instead of focusing on development. He alleged that the party had targeted political opponents, constitutional institutions, and even the armed forces with derogatory remarks, reiterating his call for voters to support the BJP in the elections.
