PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi to Attend Telangana Rising Summit as Chief Minister Extends Invite

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy invites PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi, and Union Ministers for the Global Summit.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday set the stage for a rare political spectacle by personally inviting both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to the Telangana Rising Global Summit scheduled for December 8–9 in Hyderabad, raising the possibility of the two archrivals sharing the same platform for the first time since the bitterly contested 2024 general elections.

Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Reddy first met PM Modi in the Parliament complex and handed over an ornate invitation for the summit, to be held at the sprawling Bharat Future City on the outskirts of Hyderabad. He briefed the prime minister on the state’s newly drafted Telangana Rising 2047 Vision Document, which targets transforming Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047—a goal explicitly aligned with the Centre’s Viksit Bharat @2047 roadmap.

Minutes earlier, Reddy had called on Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at their 10 Janpath residence, extending identical invitations and emphasising the non-partisan nature of the state’s development agenda. Senior Congress leaders and MPs from Telangana were present as the Chief Minister underlined the need for national consensus to achieve rapid industrial and infrastructure growth.

The summit will witness the formal launch of the Vision Document, prepared with technical inputs from NITI Aayog and extensive consultations with global experts, outlining sector-wise strategies in IT, life sciences, defence manufacturing, urban infrastructure, and renewable energy. Reddy also invited Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, signalling focus areas where central cooperation is critical.

Political circles are abuzz with speculation about whether Modi and Rahul Gandhi will accept and, if they do, whether they will address the gathering from the same dais—an image that would contrast sharply with the aggressive rhetoric of recent months. Neither the Prime Minister’s Office nor Rahul Gandhi’s team has confirmed attendance yet, but sources say both invitations have been received positively.

With global CEOs, investors, and diplomats already confirming participation, the Telangana government is positioning the event as the state’s biggest investment outreach since its formation in 2014, hoping the presence of India’s top leaders will send a powerful message of unity and accelerate its ambition to overtake larger states in economic rankings within the next two decades.
