PM Modi Accuses SP of Hindering UP's Growth And Women Empowerment

PM Modi hits SP for women's bill defeat, calls it anti-progress in UP.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party, accusing it of being “anti-women” and “anti-development” while alleging that the opposition party has consistently opposed Uttar Pradesh’s progress.

Addressing a public gathering in the state, Modi claimed that the Samajwadi Party had a track record of obstructing initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, governance, and welfare delivery. He asserted that the current development trajectory in Uttar Pradesh would not have been possible under previous administrations led by the party.

The Prime Minister also focused on issues related to women’s safety and empowerment, stating that earlier regimes failed to provide a secure environment for women. He contrasted this with the policies and schemes introduced under the present government, which he said have prioritized law and order and expanded opportunities for women across sectors.

Responding to the remarks, leaders from the Samajwadi Party dismissed the allegations, accusing the ruling party of using political rhetoric ahead of elections. They argued that their government had implemented several welfare measures during its tenure and questioned the claims made about development and governance under the current administration.

The exchange highlights the intensifying political contest in Uttar Pradesh, where both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the Samajwadi Party are seeking to consolidate support ahead of upcoming electoral battles. Campaign narratives around development, law and order, and social welfare are expected to dominate the discourse.

With political temperatures rising, such sharp exchanges are likely to continue as parties attempt to shape public perception and mobilize voters. The developments underscore the high stakes involved in Uttar Pradesh politics, often seen as a key battleground in India’s electoral landscape.
