Piyush Goyal: Ease of Doing Business and FTAs Power India's Rise as Trusted Global Economy

Piyush Goyal: Ease of Doing Business and FTAs build India's self-reliant economy.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday underscored the role of key policy reforms in shaping India as a self-reliant and globally trusted economy. He pointed to initiatives such as Ease of Doing Business, free trade agreements (FTAs), and growing public confidence as driving factors behind the nation’s economic transformation.

Goyal highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, decisive reforms implemented in 2025 have infused new energy into startups, MSMEs, exports, and investment. These steps are strengthening India’s global economic standing while boosting domestic entrepreneurship.

The minister emphasized that India’s recent FTAs are opening new markets for goods and services, providing investors with greater certainty and confidence. He noted that these agreements present significant opportunities for startups and entrepreneurs to scale up globally.

Speaking at the ‘Startup Pe Charcha’ event at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Goyal encouraged Indian startups to explore collaborations with foreign partners in sectors such as digital payments, mobility, renewable energy, sustainability, and advanced technologies. Such partnerships, he said, will accelerate India’s global competitiveness.

Goyal also pointed to a cultural shift among India’s youth, with rising self-confidence encouraging them to take risks and experiment with entrepreneurial ventures. He described this trend as a departure from traditional preferences for safer career paths.

Concluding his remarks, the minister stated that India’s growth model—rooted in reforms, global partnerships, and youthful energy—is paving the way for a robust, self-reliant economy capable of attracting investment and fostering innovation on the world stage.
